Heartfelt is more than an album—it is a gesture of gratitude, reverence, and love for Dick Oatts, one of modern jazz’s most influential voices. The two saxophonists share a long personal history, one that includes not just lessons and rehearsals, but road trips to New Hope, Pennsylvania, where Lin would help service Oatts’ horn and absorb priceless wisdom on improvisation, musicality, and Afro-Cuban rhythmic forms.
“To record this album with Dick is one of the greatest honors of my life,” says Lin. “His mentorship shaped the way I play, listen, and live.”

Tim Lin 成長於美國舊金山灣區，父母來自台灣。他的父親任職於美國郵政局，同時也是一位熱愛爵士樂的樂迷。正是在父親的引領下，Tim 初次接觸到爵士樂，從此愛上音樂並開始演奏薩克斯風。隨著音樂熱情愈發強烈，他毅然決然搬到紐約市，展開專業音樂生涯，除了演出與創作外，也經營個人薩克斯風維修與古董樂器收藏事業。他的演奏深受 Bebop 風格影響，技巧紮實、情感豐富，是當代新生代爵士樂手中備受矚目的聲音之一。
專輯《Heartfelt》是 Tim 對 Dick Oatts 多年來教導與陪伴的深情致意。他回憶過去時常親自驅車前往賓州新希望鎮，協助 Oatts 保養樂器，兩人常在閒聊中討論即興演奏的哲學，以及如何將 Afro-Cuban 的節奏結構融合至爵士語彙之中。能與恩師在其音樂生涯的成熟階段共同錄製這張專輯，對 Tim 而言意義非凡。
